From March 4-5, the AMR Policy Accelerator team was in Zanzibar, with its beautiful blue waters, for another Smart Choice Process workshop, bringing together experts to advance antimicrobial resistance (AMR) policy and action.
The team’s in-country facilitators Kadia Petricca, Suzanne Naro, Clare McGall, and Heba Qazilbash, in partnership with the Government of Zanzibar, lead the two-day workshop focused on in-depth discussions on activities under Strategic Objective 1 (Governance) and Strategic Objective 2 (Awareness and Education) of the 2025-2029 ZAP.
Bringing together over 30 One Health experts, the participants dove into multi-sectoral discussions tackling the remaining Strategic Objectives, with a focus on Surveillance and Research, WASH, IPC and Biosecurity, and Antimicrobial Stewardship. Participants exchanged insights on the challenges and opportunities surrounding AMR activity implementation, paving the way for a more effective and sustainable approach.
