On October 20, GSL Director Steven Hoffman was quoted in an article by Julia Belluz for Vox discussing the second COVID-19 wave Europe is experiencing. Many European countries have re-introduced harsher measures to try to curb further spread, some even entering a second lockdown.
In the article, Hoffman explained that while lockdowns are powerful measures, they are only effective if they’re followed up with comprehensive testing and tracing. If a health care system is not set up for that “you’ve endured a painful experience without any longevity in its benefit,” he said.
