On March 5, GSL Director Steven Hoffman was interviewed on the CBC’s Politics and Power broadcast to give his opinion of the Canadian response to COVID-19 in the face of other countries closing their borders, cancelling large scale events or quarantining arriving tourists and citizens.
In the interview, Hoffman praised the way the Canadian government and public health leadership have been dealing with the viral outbreak. He reiterated that the approach was based on the best available science and compared to other countries legal under international law. He rejected the notion to introduce special measures from regions more seriously affected by COVID-19, such as Iran or Italy.
