GSL Director interviewed about the possible end to Covid-19 in Global News

In March 4, GSL Director Steven Hoffman was quoted in Global News about how and when Covid-19 might end in a new article by Meghan Collie.

In the article, Hoffman explained that there are two main ways the disease could be defeated:

  1. Measures by the international public health community could all but eradicate the virus.

  2. Covid-19 could stay a lingering disease akin to the seasonal flu and come around every other year. Once the coverage of the disease as a global pandemic drops, the public will accept it as a risk they are willing to live with.

With both these pathways, there is according to Hoffman another light at the end of this proverbial tunnel. With the arrival of warmer weather in the northern hemisphere, there will be less breeding ground for the virus and the transmission rate might drop.
