Patrick Fafard, Research Director of Public Health Institutions at the Global Strategy Lab, was recently interviewed for a CBC News segment on the ongoing healthcare crisis in Hinton, Alberta. During the interview, Fafard provided insights on the challenges municipalities face in addressing healthcare needs.
“They’re not equipped to do it financially and nor are they equipped to really evaluate. Is this actually the best way to ensure the people of Hinton have access to primary care?” Fafard remarked, highlighting the complexities of local governments stepping into healthcare roles traditionally managed by provincial authorities.
