Adèle Cassola

Investigator, Public Health Institutions


Adèle Cassola is an Investigator with the Global Strategy Lab. Adèle completed her Ph.D. in Urban Planning at Columbia University, where her mixed-methods dissertation drew on original survey and interview data to analyze how political, economic, and institutional factors influence the adoption and implementation of equitable development policies. Adèle also holds a B.A. (Honours) degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Toronto and an M.Sc. degree from the London School of Economics, where she specialized in housing and environmental policy in the Sociology Department’s interdisciplinary City Design and Social Science program.

Adèle’s experience includes several years leading large-scale, globally comparative research on equity in legal rights protections with the Institute for Health and Social Policy and the World Policy Analysis Centre. She also coordinated international initiatives to identify evidence-informed strategies for increasing equity in education and implementing legal rights in diverse contexts. Adèle has conducted community-based research on the health and socioeconomic wellbeing of marginalized households with the Centre for Research on Inner City Health in Toronto and New York City’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development. She previously contributed to global health research and youth program development during her three years working with War Child Canada.
