GSL Investigator featured in Global News article on COVID-19 and the Cruise Ship Industry

On April 16, GSL Investigator Mathieu Poirier was interviewed for a Global News article on the prevalence of COVID-19 cases on cruise ships. Since the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic cruise ships have been a hotbed for the disease.

In the article, Poirier explained that the reasons for this prevalence might be systemic. The people working on cruise ships, and who’s job it is to keep the ships clean and safe, work under miserable conditions, often making only about 5 USD an hour.

Until these conditions improve, Poirier thinks that we will continue to see infectious disease spread on cruise ships in the future.
