A new BMJ editorial, “Global health reform must continue amid new infectious disease threats,” discusses the international law reforms underway at the World Health Organization (WHO) and the implications of the recently approved amendments to WHO’s International Health Regulations for pandemic preparedness. With contributions from Alexandra L. Phelan, Benjamin Mason Meier, Lawrence O. Gostin, and GSL Research Associate Roojin Habibi, the authors urge states to leverage this momentum to negotiate a bold pandemic treaty through WHO’s Intergovernmental Negotiating Body.
