From December 3-4, the AMR Policy Accelerator facilitated its second Smart Choice Process workshop — this time in Kadoma, Zimbabwe!
The Smart Choice Process is an effective methodology used to rank and prioritize interventions to support the development or implementation of a country’s National Action Plan (NAP) on antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
During the workshop, the AMR Policy Accelerator’s Senior Policy Lead, Kadia Petricca, along with Policy Advisors Suzanne Naro and Clare McGall, collaborated with the Government of Zimbabwe and country experts from One Health sectors to prioritize AMR interventions. Together, they identify challenges and enablers associated with these prioritized interventions to ensure sustainable implementation of Zimbabwe’s 2024-2028 NAP.
Throughout the workshop, a diverse array of perspectives was shared and painted a vivid picture of the implementation challenges and barriers associated with each prioritized intervention. Multi-sectoral collaboration, fueled by a shared passion for AMR, was certainly on full display.

By breaking down institutional siloes, key stakeholders in Zimbabwe established a clear path forward for implementing their NAP using a One Health approach.
