GSL’s Postdoctoral Fellow Alison Humphrey has been awarded a Governor General’s Gold Medal. These medals represent the highest honor for academic excellence in Canada, awarded to graduate students who have demonstrated exceptional scholastic performance.
This award recognizes her work on ‘The Shadowpox Storyworld as Citizen Science Fiction: Building Co-Immunity through Participatory Mixed-Reality Storytelling.’ This project, centred on a mixed-reality storyworld co-created with young people across three continents, uses a superhero metaphor to imagine immunization. Alison’s approach with the Shadowpox storyworld aims to counter vaccine hesitancy by helping people explore scientific evidence.
