On April 18, GSL Director Steven Hoffman was featured in a wide-ranging long-form article in the Toronto Star reviewing Canada’s COVID-19 response thus far.
In the article, Hoffman contributed to a segment discussing the efficacy of travel restrictions. He explained that there is ample evidence that travel bans against a selection of countries don’t work. However, the efficacy of total travel restrictions, like the one Canada instituted in March 2020, is still unknown:
“We don’t know whether it will or won’t work — or, at very least, we don’t have the science showing it won’t work”
