GSL Director quoted in Toronto Star Article about what lessons we can learn from MLB COVID outbreak

On July 27, GSL Director Steven Hoffman was featured in a Toronto Star article discussing the repercussions the COVID-19 outbreak amongst 14 players and staff of the Miami Marlins baseball team might have on other pro sports and society in general.

In the article, Hoffman explained that the reopening of pro sports is similar to opening other sectors of society: “We should reopen, we need to reopen. But when we do, that’s when we need to be extra careful.” An area that might be a good comparison is the re-opening of schools, which is where children not unlike athletes are in close proximity to each other over an extended period of time: These events (in baseball) are a cautionary tale, about how careful we need to be when we reopen.”
