GSL Director Discusses the need to focus on marginalized groups in second wave of COVID-19

On July 25, GSL Director Steven Hoffman was featured in a Toronto Star article discussing a possible second wave of COVID-19 in Canada. While the article more broadly focussed on the economy and other factors, Hoffman discussed the population most impacted by the first wave: marginalized people in society.

In the interview, Hoffman explained that during pandemics “the greatest effects are borne by the people who already are the least well off.” He argued that during a second wave we have to pay special attention to these marginalized groups which have kept grocery stores, pharmacies and hospitals open, but were also the worst hit by the virus.
