Chloe Clifford Astbury Contributes to the AJRAM’s Leadership Program

On October 26, Chloe Clifford Astbury Link , a Research Associate at the Global Strategy Lab, contributed to the Programme de Leadership de Jeunes organized by Actions des Jeunes contre la Résistance aux Antimicrobiens (AJRAM). In its second edition, the Programme de Leadership des Jeunes joined over 100 participants from 19 different countries and a range of academic and professional backgrounds, from veterinary medicine, agriculture, economics, and law.

The program aims to connect young leaders from Francophone Africa and enhance their policy, advocacy, and leadership skills in tackling antimicrobial resistance (AMR). AJRAM operates across various Francophone African countries and collaborates with partners like ReAct Africa and Laboratoire des Pathogènes Emergents et Ré-émergents (LaPathER).

As part of the program, Chloe delivered a session on policy and advocacy for AMR, which complemented modules offered by other session leaders on AMR topics like project management and leadership. Drawing on the AMR Policy Accelerator’s capacity-strengthening materials, Chloe introduced participants to key policy topics, tools for identifying and understanding stakeholders, and strategies for effective advocacy.

Youth-led organizations like AJRAM have the ability to build global capacity for evidence-informed AMR policy and advocacy by engaging and empowering the next generation of leaders to transform ideas into action.
