Tracey Wagner-Rizvi holds a PhD and MA in Global Governance from the Balsillie School of International Affairs, University of Waterloo, specializing in global social governance, human rights, and global justice. Her research focuses on global health governance, non-state actors (particularly corporate entities), multistakeholderism, corporate political activity, conflicts of interest, and the political and corporate determinants of health.
Before joining GSL, Tracey was a Research Fellow at the University of Edinburgh, contributing to a UK project on the influence of unhealthy commodity producers (e.g., tobacco, alcohol, and ultra-processed foods). She also worked on tobacco control in low- and middle-income countries, analyzing the implementation of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control’s Article 5.3 in Bangladesh, Ethiopia, India, and Uganda.
Previously, Tracey lived in Pakistan for 13 years, with a brief period in Afghanistan in 2002, working with UNICEF, NGOs, and a national newspaper. She campaigned for legislation banning baby formula marketing, sparking her career-long interest in corporate influence on health policies.
