GSL Researchers Attend World Conference on Tobacco Control

From June 23 to 25, GSL Researchers Lathika Laguwaran, Mehedi Hasan Rasel, and Director Mathieu JP Poirier attended the World Conference on Tobacco Control.

Mehedi Hasan Rasel presented a poster on an upcoming study examining international differences in smoking intensity between men and women. Despite progress in global tobacco control, gender differences in cigarette smoking persist globally. This research aims to bridge this knowledge gap by shedding light on these differences to help inform more effective tobacco control policies worldwide.

Lathika Laguwaran and Mathieu Poirier also featured a poster presenting findings from our upcoming study on gendered differences in smoking behaviours. This study will be the first of its kind to synthesize global evidence on the relationships between gender, socioeconomic, and sociocultural factors.

The World Conference on Tobacco Control brought together tobacco control experts, policymakers, and advocates from around the globe, providing a unique opportunity to share insights and learn about the latest evidence in tobacco control.
