Our AMR Policy Accelerator team, Fiona Emdin (Dahdaleh Research Fellow), Clare McGall (Policy Advisor), and Suzanne Naro (Policy Advisor) had a wonderful time attending the 2024 Western Canada One Health Antimicrobial Stewardship Conference!
This conference was a great opportunity for them to meet with people working in AMR across the sectors. They were able to engage with and learn from stakeholders across the human health sphere including dentists, nurses, pharmacists and doctors, and animal health and environmental experts.
Some key takeaways from the conference include:
- Engage prescribers and professionals to share best practices to promote antimicrobial stewardship in Canada’s healthcare, veterinary, and environment settings;
- Explore integrating tools and practices into existing health care frameworks to advocate for appropriate antimicrobial use; and
- Reflect on Indigenous knowledge in the development of One Health strategies to mitigate AMR in Canada.
